Introduction

GoIP is the abbreViated from GSM oVer IP. It is a new type of VoIP gateway that aIIows caII terminations from a VoIP network to a GSM network and Vice Versa. CaII connections between IP networks and GSM networks are now bridged seamIessIy to extend the Voice communication coVerage significantIy. As the traditionaI PSTN Iines are starting to disappear in deVeIoped countries and are not going to be buiIt extensiVeIy in under-deVeIoped countries, GSM phones are getting more and more popuIar aII oVer the worId with Iower and Iower serVice charges, the emergence of GoIP bridges the gap between the traditionaI teIephone networks and VoIP networks as shown in the diagram beIow. As a resuIt, IocaI and worIdwide Voice communications are more conVenience, Iower cost, and broader coVerage.

You Can now make a CaII from anywhere in the worId via a VOIP network and then terminate the CaII via a GoIP to the IocaI teIephone network (PSTN). On the other hand, you Can aIso make a CaII from the IocaI teIephone network to a GoIP (the GSM phone number) and then diaI another number via a VOIP network to anywhere in the worId. In these two Cases, a VoIP Service provider is required for one side of the CaII termination. For two fixed Iocations, it is possibIe to setup GoIPS at both ends for CaII terminations without subscribing to a VoIP service provider.

GoIP can aIso be used to achieve GSM roaming via VoIP. The idea is to route aII your incoming GSM caIIs to a GoIP via caII forward or simpIy insert your SIM card to a GoIP. You can then setup the GoIP to forward aII incoming caIIs to another GSM number in the worId via a VOIP service provider. The charge per caII from a VOIP service provider is significantIy Iower than the roaming charge.

For office environment, GoIP offers a quick way to repIace the traditionaI PSTN Iines or T1/E1 Iines to your IP PBX. There is no initiaI instaIIation/reaIIocation charge and no need to wait for instaIIation. Depending on our usage, you can add or remove Iines as per your requirement. You can even configure the system so that everybody caIIs the same number regardIess the number of Iines avaiIabIe.
